GCU Athletics Partners with Dr. Sanford Silverman for ADHD Evaluations

Helping student-athletes gain clarity and support for academic and athletic success

Grand Canyon University’s Athletics Department has partnered with Dr. Sanford Silverman to provide professional evaluations for Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD/ADHD) as part of its Student-Athlete Development Center services.

This collaboration reflects GCU’s commitment to supporting the full potential of its student-athletes—both on the field and in the classroom. The Student-Athlete Development Center, established in 2016, offers comprehensive resources designed to foster academic success, mental well-being, and personal development. Services include academic support, career guidance, and now specialized ADHD evaluations for students who may be struggling with focus, organization, or emotional regulation.

Dr. Silverman, a trusted expert in the field of attention and learning disorders, brings decades of experience in assessing ADHD and related conditions in young adults. His work emphasizes accurate diagnosis and personalized, evidence-based care. For many student-athletes, access to a professional evaluation can provide the clarity they need to succeed academically and athletically.

This initiative aligns with a growing recognition of the importance of mental performance in competitive sports—and provides a valuable opportunity for students to better understand how their brain functions and how to support it.
